I used some more of Shaui's kits.  She is Happy Box in the shop.  Sarah sent me an email asking if I wanted to stay on as a CT and I said "YES"!

New designers - new layout....

I used some parts of kits from two new designers.  I tried to scraplift a gorgeous layout featured recently on Gallery Standouts but I just couldn't get the right effect with the kits from Pixels & Co.  I worked for at least 3 hours before throwing in the towel.  I went to The Lilypad and bought the kit that was in the GSO layout and I'll lift that layout later.

After that I was left with the kits from P&C and the need to make a layout with them.  I still used some of the GSO ideas for this layout, but abandoned the clustering the other one used.  I love the ideas of the layout because Lexie and Vivi look for happy.

PSE Filters

I watched a few YouTube tutorials about filters today.  I learned a lot and one filter in particular appealed to me: Cut Out.  I experimented with it on a photo of Ewan.  I used a darken blending mode on it as well.  I added a highly textured linen paper as an overlay giving the photo a textured poster look.  I added the smaller photo just for a scrapbook appeal.  I made the font a mask for the orange arrow which gave that some texture, too.

Recoloring magic

This layout started as a practice for a tutorial I watched about recoloring elements.  I had recolored a flower for a different page; I wasn't satisfied with my technique, but it was useable.  I read the P&C blog about recoloring some alpha letters and tried it.  It wasn't very successful for PSE but I also had made a technique card from a technique I came across a long time ago with an additional step that Gen's tutorial did not include.  It really made a difference.

On this layout, the large gold flower is the original element.  I recolored it as the blue and green flowers.  I used the technique to recolor the button in the middle of the paper heart.  I created the page around those three flowers and the paper heart.  It eventually turned out as you see it, but I had no idea what photo to use.  It was pretty feminine so I knew it couldn't be about Ewan.  I had made so many recently about Vivian and I thought the ampersand would be great for a couples' photo.  I liked this one of Chris and Rachel; I used RadLab on.

I got to the speed scrap kind of late and out of energy.  I read the description but just couldn't work up the mental energy to plan it out.  I got a peek of the first layout completed and used that visual to make a sketch.  I put it together very quickly with a kit called Vintage Story and I realized I had wanted to use a different kit, so I switched all the papers over.  The layout turned out more monochromatic than I anticipated.  I also forgot the date tag in the instructions and made the photo WAY smaller than it called for, too.  Other than that I was quite satisfied with it. 

 

I had a terrible time getting the photo of the layout to post in the forum thread.  The next day some scrappers helped me with some instructions so I could get it in.

I liked the preview of this kit.

This is my 4th attempt at posting.  Blogger is so messed up, it's a pain in the neck.  I wish they would get it fixed so it works with Internet Explorer. 

I liked the preview to this kit, especially the light green paper.  When I downloaded the kit, though, the green paper was replaced by an orange one.  I finished the layout anyway.

Instantly loved the black and white....

As soon as I saw this kit with all the black and white papers, I knew I had to do a layout.  I've done so many lately with Vivian so I decided to do one of Ewan so it needed to be a bit masculine.

New Layouts

I put together a layout the other night very quickly so I could make a April 4th deadline.  I did another one tonight, just because I liked a kit.  I used my designated designer's template.  It wasn't a new one from her, but it was one I liked.  I'm trying to do some linking in the gallery.  I managed to link a photo of the kit, but didn't get a link to the page in the shop.  So I thought I might experiment here.
