MOC Day 30 - One Word Challenge

The challenge was really a one phrase challenge.  We were to use the phrase "today was awesome" somewhere, somehow on the layout.  I ended up using it in the journaling.  I was only going to write a little bit on some stitched line, but that just wasn't satisfying.  I decided to really put all my thoughts and plans down instead.  Because the photo was so large, I had a little trouble coming up with the elements to embellish with.   I thought fewer was the way to go.  I was tempted to put the phrase on top of the street in the photo, but opted to leave the photo clean.

MOC 29 - Big Title Challenge

I had this layout in the hopper just waiting for the right challenge to post it in.  The photo/title was much smaller originally, but I increased the side due to the challenge.  I saw the technique on Pinterest in a graphics board.  I was just dying to try it out.  It took two tried to get the lettering over the black/white side of the photo just right.  If you look hard you will see the rest of the photo in the letters.  Probably not the most optimum photo for the technique, but I had to go with what I had and wouldn't mind the whole world seeing.

Monthly Mixed Media January Challenge #1

The one word I selected to use in my layout was Travel (other choices were Time or Still).  I have had the romantic idea of going to Paris, but am really just to lazy to travel (as well as too cheap).

I was attracted to the dark woodgrain paper and the postcard.  I used a multi-colored paint blotch as the mask.  I think it turned out better than I hoped.  I kept the elements simple.  I had to clone out a word label from the center of the butterfly.  I added another banner piece to the original.

Leviticus 16 - The Day of Atonement

I am a week behind with this layout about my BSF lesson.  I just bought the pieces from Jacque Larsen that helped finish it off.  I'm loving her felt and watercolored pieces for my Bible AJ.

I focused on 2 of the sacrifices taught in the lesson which happen on the Day of Atonement.

MOC Day 28 - Year in Review Challenge

I don't do this kind of layout normally so it was hard to come up with just the right photos.  I used a template and just grabbed a bunch of photos.  They do go somewhat in chronological order.  For the challenge I had to have at least one line of journaling and the word 2014 in numerals or words.  I could have picked a highlight of the year or a summary.  I went for a smattering (I guess that's a summary).

I have to admit, I am not crazy about the layout.  Photos are too small for my liking and the elements didn't seem to work as well as I wanted.  But it's done and I'm getting tired tonight.

I'm posting this as large as possible so the photos are more visible.

First Slow Scrap at TLP

I finally connected with one of the "speed" scraps.  It is a slow scrap.  You have 24 hours to complete it.  The recipe was a great one.  I was able to scrap a series of photos of Vivi playing Dr. Pol.
So much fun!

MOC Day 27 - Sketch Challenge

Here is the sketch which the challenge is based on  We were to use something from it to create our layout.  I chose the filmstrip, placement of the titles and the paper strips.

I put together the filmstrip, wordart and elements with different paper and paint drips yesterday. After sleeping on it overnight, I decided to go with a cleaner design.  The title also came to me as I drifted off to sleep.  I like this layout much better.

Here is my layout:

I was inspired by the filmstrip of photos, the large title above, the smaller title below the filmstrip and the strips of paper.
