MOC4 Day 28 - Style/2 Page Layout

This challenge required a double layout.  I don't usually scrap this way since I print only 12x12 pages.  I had to hunt through all my old Jessica Sprague class notes for the way to cut the double into two 12x12 pages.

MOC4 - Day 27 - Technique / Cut-Out Challenge

This challenge entailed making a digital page look like a traditional paper page with some cut-outs on the page.  By having different papers underneath the cut-outs you get more texture and visual interest.  I planned to make this technique prominent on my layout, but Vivian's mixed media painting in the photo dictated otherwise.  The song sprang into my head immediately so that became the title and the page turned more into a journaling challenge.  Oh well....  I love it nonetheless.

Combine 2 Templates MOC4 Challenge at The Lilypad

This was a bit of a challenge since the two templates were fabulous stand-alone templates in their own right.  There was a lot in each one too to try to cram into one layout.  I ended up using Scrapping with Liz's template as the base, flipping it 90 degrees.  I used Lynn's photos, masks and title as some replacements on Liz's template.  I love the way it turned out.  There is a lot of white space so it doesn't seem crowded.

MOC4 - Day24 - Inspiration/Redo Challenge

This challenge called for redoing an older layout for the inspiration.  It was required to reuse the predominant photo from the original layout.  I chose a layout I did for a challenge at Jessica Sprague's site YEARS ago.  I never did publish on the web this photo with the colored tulips, so in a way it is an all new layout.

MOC4 - Day 22 - Inspiration/Ad Challenge

This challenge required us to take inspiration from a great ad with strong images and geometric shapes.  Here is the inspiration piece.

I was drawn to the eye and the triangles.  I looked through all my people images and found this one by Nancie Rowe Janitz.  I just used more of her products to complete the layout.  I drew the triangles with the Pen tool and filled them like I always do to make my photo masks.

Amy Wolff released her three kits that are part of her monthly Wolff Pack.  The Messy Marvins were really messy this time.  I ended up making a messy looking layout to showcase them.  The scribble drawing looks so much like a child's artwork I used one of Vivi's photos of when she did scribble art (little kiddo art).

I offered a technique for blending a journal card into a background paper and a background paper into the white space of an oversized photo on Danyale's blog.  I used a photo of Rachel taken at Christmas because it had a large white space area and she wearing a great smile.

Since Danyale hosted this challenge, I used her latest kit in the store.  The challenge needed to have elements that touched all the sides.  I used a freebie template from Fiddle-Dee-Dee to make this easier on myself.  I think I did a good job of having full, clustery corners but a lot of white space, too.

I went very simple on this with only one element.  I had to do some cloning to extend the path since the photo did not fill up the entire page.  I used a blend mode to make the text appear painted onto the gravel.

New Challenge over at the Pink Reptile Designs Blog

The Three Way Series about using overlays was really good.  I used the gradient way since I'm not very competent with that tool.  It was fun to scrap my creating spot.

MOC 16 - Technique Challenge - Clipping a photo to a Mask

Wendy P had a technique challenge.  It was a technique I've used before.  Once I saw the photos I wanted to do and a two tone paint, the layout nearly fell into place.  I had to put a layer mask on the photo to erase part of it to exposed the darker blue paint and I duplicated the paint and created a selection of the lighter color and deleted it.   I also had to put a layer mask on the scribble to erase parts under the paint.  Fun, easy and I love the result.

MOC4 - Day 15 - Repeated Elements Challenge

This challenge required at least 10 of the same kind of element,  I was going to do buttons but it just didn't work for me.  These flowers were much better for my design.  The text around the edge really finished it off perfectly.

Kim has 4 kits on sale, but I only used two for my layout.  The colors and patterns are VERY bold in the Mad for Mod 2 paper set, but the template I used helped to tone them down a bit.  I like that the alpha steals a little of the show.

Danyale asked the CT which kits they wanted to see in the SOSN and I shouted James Patrick!!  I LOVE the colors in this masculine kit.  The Sweet Thing kit is the girl compliment to the boy kit. These are probably the last kits I'll get as a guest CT.  They are certainly good ones.
