Kristen Aagard's Surprise Challenge at The Lilypad

I love that Kristen gives away a freebie that goes with nearly every kit she sells.  I have collected quite a few.  This layout is made with bit and pieces from many of them.  The challenge was to use 30 words of journaling in a free font from Dafont.  I loved the orange papers and that inspired the page.  Orange is Ewan's favorite color.  It's a coincidence that the green leaves go so well with his shirt.

Out of the Box Challenge at Digital Scrapbooking Studio

UPDATE:  On my Polly application I got a nicely worded rejection letter.  I asked God to open the door to that if He felt it would work for me and He said "no".  As it turns out, I really don't have time for that big commitment as I'm currently serving as a roving group leader in Bible Study Fellowship.  I am delighted to be serving there again and so happy to serve my Lord more and serving myself less.

Way Back Wednesday Challenge at Designer Digitals

At first I wasn't going to participate in this challenge because it required a specific kit which I didn't have.  It turned out to be in the 50% off sale on Thursday.  I still debated whether to get it or not, but since I have so few full kits from Katie Pertiet, I decided to go for it. 

I made a selection of the leaves on the paper that featured them and the butterfly.  I put a shadow on the extracted leaves and layered them above the photo and the original paper.  I think it turned out great.  I also got a full alpha with the kit which was good since I didn't have one.

Danyale added a mini kit to the GIANT collab that the designers made for DSD Blog Hop.  I love that big pink flower SO MUCH.  I used a new template with banners.  I have a real thing for banners.  I had to add all the shadows, though.  I put only a few on their own layers for extra tweaking.

Halloween Challenge | Designer Digitals

There was a challenge on the blog yesterday.  The requirements were to use the template freebie and 2 of the 3 papers in the freebie kit.  I used everything.  I LOVED the polka dot and paisley papers.  I cloned out some stars on the orange paper to get just the solid color.  I was able to use a new kits I bought during the quarterly sale.  I love how it turned out.

It was tricky shadowing the lower berry sprig, but it turned out well.  I selected the stamped word art and made a duplicate of it.  Then I selected it again and deleted it from the original.  I shadowed the remaining original and put the stamped, unshadowed part in the layer above and the two layers melded together visually perfectly.

A New Kit from Lynne-Marie and the October Photography Challenge

I just loved Lynne-Marie's BYOC elements this month.  The hand drawn animals, leaves and trees just spoke to me.  I put the layout together and then looked for a photo.  The photo turned out to meet the Photography Challenge requirements for this month's challenge, so it was a win-win for me.

Saturday Scraplift at Designer Digitals

The layout chosen for the lift used a template which is really nice.  I plan to buy it when it goes on sale again.  Until then I had to come up with my own solution for the rays.  I used an oversize exclamation shape from PSE and duplicated it a bunch of times.  I clipped a small polka dot paper to them, but stretched the paper quite a bit to get large dots.  I dropped the opacity and used a blending mode on the burst.  I duplicated it and applied a different blending mode to increase the rays.  I stuck some stitching lines between the rays for interest.  I loved the wooden letter and made them a bit of the star.  I think it looks pretty good.  I love the blue and brown together and they go great with Buddy's coloring.
