May 2016 Monthly Challenge at The Lilypad

I spent the week-end finishing up the monthly challenges.  For a while I didn't think I would get them finished.  I'm on a streak of doing every monthly challenge since hanging out at the Lilypad forum -- 2 years worth!!

I put this challenge off til the last since it required a double spread and I don't like to make them since I print only single 12 x 12 layouts and not books.  I fiddled with the texts location until it drove me crazy.  The pages needed to look balanced individually as well as combined (harder to do than it looks).

The Inspiration Challenge was to scrap something that inspires me.  I really wanted to do a Bible Art Journaling page, but quite frankly I just didn't have the creative juices in me to make it.  I used Brian and our marriage as my inspiration.  Afterall, we have been together forever and through nearly everything life can throw at you.

Just a note, I'm posting this with my new Wacom Pro tablet.  It really does take some adjusting to.  I bought a class about the tablet which is helpful.  I am just using the default settings to learn how to use the tablet as my ONLY input  device.  I'm amazed at how many times I find myself doing the mouse sweep.  I also have to THINK about which buttons did I use on the mouse and/or the keyboard.  Very strange, but by using it exclusively, I'm SURE I'll get the swing of it.

Speed Scrap at The Lilypad

I thought I would get a head start and I constructed a rough template in Photoshop Elements, selected a kit and 3 possible photos.  Well, the first direction sent me off looking for other kits and the black and white photo totally destroyed the chance to use my pre-selected photos.  Luckily the steps came very slowly and I was able to make the page pretty much as we went since I did a C&S design.  I only used what was called for except for 3 staples.

Out of the Box May Challenge at Digital Scrapbooking Studio

I loved getting another chance to use Berna's Blimp kit -- I LOVE that kit!
At first I was going to make this an art journaling type page with no photo, but thought the photo of Ewan in the airplane at Family Fun Center would be perfect.  I turned a journaling block into a frame.

The challenge was to stack 4 papers.
