Good News!  My layout for the Digi Dare #406 was selected as the winning layout.  I will be getting some kind of a prize from Mirjam aka Pink Reptile Designs.  That inspired me to do the next one which is being sponsored by Just Jaimee.

I did one last layout for the month for Tinci Designs and Trixie Scraps.  The kit by Tinci Designs is a new release.  I had to dip into past releases for a kit to use with the template.  I love the organic feel and colors of the Nature Boy kit.

Last Pocket Scrapping AJ Challenge for the month of May

I adapted a pocket protector from Gennifer Bursett for this layout.  I loved this large polka dot paper so much but couldn't use it for the Slow Scrap, so I used it and the kit again for this challenge  I had to cut and paste the protector page to make all the small sections.  The Hard Light blend mode made each selection of the perforations fade into the master.  It was easier to do than I thought and I saved it to the kit so I can use it again if I need to.

Oh yeah, the challenge was to scrap about something I love right now.  This pretty much tells about me at the time.  Love all the new goodies I get to scrap with.  I got this kit with a gift certificate I won from Mirjam's blog challenge in April.

I Love Slow Scraps

At the Lilypad they do a slow scrap which gives you a whole day to complete the layout.  It is always accompanied by a chat.  I've been trying to participate in more and more of the chats.  It's easy to do the slow scrap because after the chat the instructions are posted in the forum.

This one was tricky for me because I dearly wanted to use the giant polka dot paper as my base, but the instructions said it had to be a solid paper.  Ugh!  I used a small part of it instead.  Since I snagged the photo off Lexie facebook page, the quality isn't too good, but it's cute nonetheless.

PRD Blog Challenge

Jenn McCabe made a freebie template for Mirjam's blog challenge for May.  It's a great template.  Since I recently did a layout about Chris, I decided to do this one for Greg.  I selected some Masculine papers, colors and elements.  I did quite a bit of photo processing to get a very warm sepia tone photo, but it got kind of lost on the layout so I decided to blend it with the color photo.

I learned about his kit during the Chat with Mirjam.  She and Amy Wolff did this collab a while ago.  Judging from the samples (there are so many) it must have been a popular kit.  I saw the trellis and instantly thought about using it full size to the page.  The kids were a great feature too.

I had to do a lot of adjustment layers to erase parts of ribbons, frames and shadow layers to get the interwoven effects.  Really fun.  I used a soft round brush to add shadow over some areas that the adjustment layers prevented from showing up.

Imitate and Stimulate Challenge

I saw the picture of this bike rider and thought of that quote "I'm in my own little world, but it's okay they know me there".

To get the swirl at the side of the face, I used a negative mask for the face and exposed the parts I wanted and then made a section of yellow on a separate layer, used a negative mask on that to expose the swirls with a lovely brush.  The butterflies were a last minute addition.

Gina Miller does not have a new release this week, but one of the kits in MandaKay's Polly Picks is NEW to me so I made a layout.

Funny, I saw the kit in the store I thought it was nice.  But when I started working with it, I found it to be WONDERFUL!  The colors are rich and the papers highly textured.

I've used the swimming photos of Vivi before but this one had a lot of cloning done on it to get rid of a green lawn chair right behind her.  I think I did a pretty good job of it, too.

Polly Pick Challenge

Today was the last chance to participate in the latest Polly Pick Challenge at TLP.  I had looked over the picks numerous times for things to buy.  I realized today I already had 8 of them but hadn't done the challenge.  I thought 7 could blend together so I used a template to expedite the process.  I had to do some recoloring.  I thought the b/w photo would let the color palette of the ellies not compete with the photo.

M3 May Challenge - 3 Words

Little Butterfly Wings Blog Challenge for May

LBW furnished the most adorable template for her May monthly freebie.  I decided to use one of her new kits that I got during iNSD with her mega pack deal (5 kits for $5).  The colors on this go perfectly with Buddy's coloring.

I had to cut and paste sections of the word strips to make them long enough for the ribbon masks.  It was tedious but very successful.  I also colored some of the masks to expend the word strip when the color was flat.  I love the mix of colors and the doodles/paint that came with the template.

One Word Challenge at The Lilypad

This kit was a free with purchase during iNSD.  It has just the right colors and organic feel for a dinner outside on the deck.  I set up the camera with the remote and snapped pictures through the meal.  We had so much fun laughing and being silly during dinner.  At one point a plane flew over and I got that on film too.  But that photo is for another layout.

The May Template Challenge at TLP has the cutest template by Mirjam.  I LOVED the doodles borders, but everybody was leaving them on so I decided to switch it up and do a delicate, soft layout.  I opted for a photo of Brian due to the word art.  I had to clone Vivian out of the photo however.

3rd Slow Scrap layout for iNSD at TLP

This was quite a challenge calling for 24 circles.  Since circles are not an element shape I prefer this was an interesting challenge.  I went for a more AJ look with doodled circles.  The photo is my newest selfie that I liked.  Since the photo size was set by the challenge I had to add some background color to the mat to get avoid blowing the photo up too much.

This layout looks vaguely familiar to me.  I think I did one nearly the same as this a while back.  This one had the rule of thirds as its basis.  The photo had to be b/w.  I used three stylets to get this harsh grainy look to Brian working on the deck.

iNSD Slow Scrap at TLP

This was posted on 4/30.  But we have all iNSD week-end to complete it.  I knew I wanted to use a new kit and the birthday photo.  The original photo was a bit grainy so I turned it to b/w with RadLab (Magical B/W).

This layout is using Amy Wolff's kit, The Places You'll Go.  I instantly thought about Ewan taking his truck place to place when he plays.  The large, narrow crop of the backyard photo set the stage for the rest of the layout.  Amy didn't make any papers for this kit (so far) so I left the background white.  The scribbles and paint look got on it.

Brick By Brick

This lego kit is PERFECT for this series of photo of Ewan assembling a car kit BEFORE breakfast.  That boy is dedicated to his legos.  He was even yawning and I was lucky enough to catch it on "film".
The blending mode on the photo(Linear Burn) allowed the lego paper underneath to show some texture.  Very cool, I think.
