Two More Challenges at Oscraps

I found another designer challenge in the Oscraps forum that sounded interesting to me.  I came up with the perfect way to use the type and the photo while lying in bed, falling asleep.  I needed to use some product from the new designer, Blue Flower Art.  I really liked a template set and the price was only $2.  I kept the template as is pretty much.

Anna Aspnes had another color challenge up today in the forum and I thought the colors would be good for a photo of Vivian.  I'm pretty sure I've used this photo before.  I gave it a dreamy look with 4 stylets in RadLab.  I recolored some of the overlays to include the purple from the color palette in the challenge.  The pink was already there and in her dress.  I recolored the masks to be the grayish color.

The stitched leaves make a great transition from the glittery mass on the left to the photo.  The thin frame really finished it off perfectly.

M3 Three Word Challenge

The three words were: stand up, heroic, freedom.  I went with the idea of freedom.  I was thinking of the emotions I'm going through with my new painting class.  I have watched a few of the videos and bought $200 of supplies. I experimented with just some Crayola watercolors and regular pencil in my composition book and had fun. I made two girls, the second one was better than the first.  Now that I've collected the same supplies that the teacher has, I find my kind of frozen to start painting more.  Crazy I know.

On another note, I did not get onto the Sahlin Studio's CT.  I didn't ever get an acknowledgement of my application and no email about my acceptance or denial so I'm wondering if my app even went through.  At any rate, it wasn't meant to be and probably just as well.

I am so excited to be guesting for two months at Pink Reptile Designs.  In the past, she has invited guest CT onto her permanent CT.  I'm hoping that will be the case for me.

This layout is for a blog challenge she is running on her blog.  I used older products that I've purchased but had not used yet.  I started with the blue bg paper and the lovely grey paper.  I added the green to the gray strips.  The challenge was to do bold repeats on the layout.  The large paper strips with the arrow, staples and brads are the main part of my repeats.

Once I had the layout made I looked for a photo with me in it.  I added some stylets to the photo since it was slightly blurred.  It has a dreamy quality to it.

I had several of Jewelle's picks for the challenge.  She is mostly a pocket scrapper so she didn't have too many element kits in her picks.  I started with colors that would be good for Ewan, but the only elements were flowers and that looked more like a Vivian's layout.

Last Challenge for July at TLP

This will finish up the challenges for TLP this month.  The challenge was to scrap a magical moment.  I thought the expression on Vivi's face getting caught under the table was kind of magical.

It was tricky to get the clip and shadows to look like they were catching parts of the strip and photos. I used layer masks and shadows on their own layers.

Today is sale day at the Lilypad.  Many designers have items on sale for 50% off.  I really use this sale along with any coupons I have to add to my stash.

First up is a great kit by Amy Wolff.  I muted the polka dots around the chevron papers so they would really stand out.  I used a layer mask and some brush work to achieve the effect.

The photo was taken at the park that is not too far from his house.  Once we walked it, but after that we drove (much faster and not so hard on Grandma).  I love the action of the photo!

Random Challenge at TLP

The challenge was to use a song lyric in some way.  I saw a painting/hand lettering picture on Pinterest and was determined to lift it digitally.  I drew the hill and divisions by hand using the pen tool and the mouse.  There were a LOT of layer masks used to make the houses, tree and the hill.  This was really hard to make but so fun, too.

Product Challenge-- Word Art

The challenge was to use word art in a BOLD manner.  I started by looking for a word art that would work for a page about Ewan.  Since I had recently made a page about Vivian and Brian, I found this photo of Brian and Ewan.  The bold stripe paper was my jumping off point after the word art.  I used some paint for the photo mask.  I had to recolor it and duplicate it.  I used RadLab stylets to color up the dead grass a bit.
