An Extra Layout....

I've had the Soliloquy kit by Valorie Wibbens for the longest time.  It's a black and white kit with all hand-drawn elements.  I picked a color palette from Pinterest and recolored the flowers and leaves of the elements.  I also just LOVE CD Muckosky's Bubble Mailer alpha and I thought it would bring out the sunny theme.  I used a blending mask for the photo so I could get the long shadow into the layout.

An M3 December layout for FUN...

I've wanted to use this girl picture, but in a way no one else has done.  I used RadLab to treat the png element for a different look.  I made it really big, too.  I think she looks like she is pondering something so I went with things I am pondering.  I used one of my favorite color combinations.

TLP Weekly Challenge

One of the CT at TLP (called 'Pollys') was featured with her style picks.  I thought I had two of them, but actually had to buy two kits to fulfill the challenge.  Since one of them was a CD Muckosky alpha, I was happy to add it to my extensive collection.  The alphas made me think of the title "No Silly Faces", so Ewan was a natural for this layout.

M3 Challenges begin for December kit

The M3 Challenges stopped after #1 last month, but they are up and running this month.  I did so many Art Journaling layouts for the 12 Days of Art Journaling that I didn't miss them.  In fact, I had a little trouble coming up with an idea for this one.

I loved the journal card by Sissy Sparrows but I didn't want a rectangle on the layout so I blended it into 3 paint splatters.  I had to do some recoloring using the gradient tool.    I blended a textured paper with the green background paper.  I had to make a new journaling strip with the words "may be" since the designer had "will be".  

I didn't write specifically about it, but the page is a nod to going wheat free January 1st.

Last AJ challenge layout.

Layout #12 is in the books, so to speak.  It needed to have at least 12 washi tapes on it; I put 18 on.  I could have used this exact layout for a Mixed Media Monthly challenge, but I decided since it started out as AJ and I had put all those tapes on it it was going to finish up as #12.

Since I did all 12 layouts I got to add a really cool badge to my signature at TLP.  I had to stretch my computer skills to get it linked in.  I'm gonna get this computer stuff, yet!!

This one is about 10 Lords a-leaping, so the layout needed to have something that leaps or about the Lord.  I, of course, chose the Lord.  I have always loved the disciples response to Jesus calming the storm.  I dreamt about doing this layout last night.  I think it is pretty well done.

Day 9 of 12 Days of AJ

This had to feature dance or music in some way.  I began with a musical element by CD Muckosky and just started building from there.  The original element is tucked into a mask and is hardly recognizable.  I got the color for the hexagons from that element, too.  The title just came as I was building it.  I wanted a textured paper and felt lucky to find the torn piece in my stash.

Last challenge at Pixels & Co for December

Even though there are two more challenges/games I could do at P&C, I think I'm done for the month. I did 7 challenges.  Only two CT members participated in the challenge I hosted.  It's a little sad that so many customers deserted P&C.  I hope they will come back, soon.  I'm a little disappointed that more of the CT are not participating in the challenges, if just to give the appearance of lots of activity. I know the CT at The Lilypad participate like crazy and I don't think they get any prizes for it.  It just builds the site.

I made this layout as a Christmas card to everyone there.  The challenge required woodgrain paper, something green, blue, red, gold and some word from the mood board.

AJ #4

I scraplifted a traditional Art Journaling page from Pinterest.  It was really hard for me to get the painted look with digi supplies since I'm pretty limited in my ability to blend and recolor.  I drew some shapes freehand and turned them into masks.  I used a lots of brushes, too.  It was a challenge to use things in 4's.  I used 4 stars, 4 houses, 8 waves (a multiple of 4s) and there might be 4 mountains.

Another one--It took me FOREVER to arrange the hearts floating up.  A heart was required for the challenge.  I just used most every heart I have from TLP.  I had to do a lot of cut and pasting to get the sunbeams to reach down as far as they do.  It's supposed to be God's glory.

Art Journaling Challenges

Wouldn't you know it, TLP started ANOTHER challenge series.  It's called the 12 Days of Art Journaling.  It's loosely themed after the 12 Days of Christmas, the song.  The first day was to use a bird somewhere in the LO.  I just searched all my birds that were from TLP and I like the polka dot one, so I just used that kits and another from Lynne-Marie to complete it.  I only saved this to the web as I don't believe I will ever want a paper copy of it.

I thought about getting rid of the chartreuse color but decided it was a great contrast to the gray and black.

Last December Challenge layout at TLP

I had to come up with a layout for "_____ Day".  I thought the snow looked so pretty and I got a great shot of the front yard on the day of our first snowfall.  I went with the dramatic effect of a big photo. The folded, stitched paper was a bit of a challenge but I think I did okay.  I couldn't figure out how to make the snowflake stamps take on the texture of the paper, so I tucked them underneath the folds with layer masks/erasing.

Challenge #6

This journaling challenge was to be about a Christmas list.  I don't really have a list but I did get this photo from Rachel of a game Ewan is interested in getting for Christmas.  So I made the layout with the photo.  I don't have much in the way of Christmas kits from TLP, so I put together some small bits and pieces from a sprinkles kit.  I'm getting a ton of use out of a big kit of templates I got on Black Friday from Amy Martin.  It sure makes putting the layouts together easier and fast!

TLP Random Challenge

This challenge involved using at least 4 different designers and 4 different kits.  I was worried I wouldn't have enough representation of the site, but not to fear, I came up with 6.  I love the photo of Ewan in his dad's hat.  I thought the tag with three tree behind the photo was a perfect compliment to the photo.  I used a soft lux filter from RadLab on the photo.

I saw another layout with something centered in a black paint swatch and I was dying to try it.  Since this photo of the view out the front door on our first snow day this year was surrounded by black, I figured I would give the paint swatch a try.  I needed to have a detail feature for the challenge and I thought it would give some perspective to the layout, too.

Scraplift

I have wanted to scraplift a layout by Amy Martin for the longest time and I've wanted to use her style over at P&C.  The new designer, Meredith Cardall, has an alphabet that I thought would be perfect for the scraplift so I decided to go for it.  The original layout had one large photo, but I needed three.  I think the adjustments still keep the flavor of the original.  I hand made the journaling box.
The photo were taken on my new iPhone 6 and Rachel posted them on her Facebook page.

Today has been an uplifting day after the drama of the last few weeks.  Gennifer has brought in two new designers and a WHOLE bunch of new kits.  I am excited to work with the new designs.  One of the designers was in the shop a few months ago.  Gen is also going to start a subscription service which is similar to what I'm doing at TLP.  I put in an application to CT at The Digital Press but my heart just isn't in it.  I doubt they'll contact me anyway.  I've decided to stay at P & C if they'll keep me.
In the meantime, Deena Rutter released a new kit and I LOVED the yellow paper in the kit so a layout was just crying out to be made.  I started with photos of Buddy in the snow, but the flowers in the kit just didn't seem right.  I opted for photos of Ewan which I thought looked good with the adjustments I made in RadLab.  I did something new there, I saved the first recipe to use on the second photo. Inspiration to try something new...

Hummie from Hummie's World posted a thread about Bible Art Journaling that got me thinking about how I could document my study in Exodus at BSF.  I started a new board in Pinterest and did a little research about Bible Art Journaling.  This is my offering about the lecture.  I didn't study the passage or do the questions because I was attending the Welcome Class.  I will be doing the entire lesson this week, however.
