Finally used the heARTSY Frames....

The preview of these frames looked so enticing.  They were a PSD file so I thought they would be infinitely flexible so I was excited to download them.  After opening up the file in PSE I found that there were only a handful of layers.  The entire line of frames and embellishments were on one layer and the shadow on another layer.  Because the embellishments and frames overlap, I didn't see any way of separating any of it.  I thought the shadowing was not very realistic either.  So I was stuck, I had to use all the frames.  I played around with the shadowing extensively and made it more pronounced, hopefully giving the frames some depth.  I used some other artsy type blenders, script and stamps to give a theme to the layout.  This turned out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Bestie Add-On Pack No. 1

I had picked up Karla Dudley's kit, Bestie, because I loved the flower border.  She also released an add-on kit and I wanted to get it so the first kit would be complete.  I hadn't used the border yet, so I put together this layout to use it and the add-on kit.

Redo of Vietnam Memorial layout...

I redid the background photo, which meant I had to change up the font color and font style on the journaling.  What do you think?  Better?  Now I'm not so sure.

Journaling Challenge

Here is another layout for a challenge this month.  This one was to journal about a landmark.  I had already done a layout about the Vietnam Memorial, but for the life of me I couldn't find it on the hard drive; so I recreated it.  I made it with no product from Pixels & Co.which sort of defeats the purpose so I added some embellishments in the upper corner to compliment the color photo and to put on some product.

Template Challenge at Pixels & Co.

I wanted to use Kim B's Journal Card and to participate in the site's challenges this month.  I had to doctor the card to make it fit my layout but I think it looks great.  The RadLab recipe of the photo looked better as a large photo, but I left it since the dreamy effect fit the layout.

Jessica Sprague 2s Challenge

Noreen and I over at JS.com are trying to revive the forum and gallery with some unofficial challenges.  I did a recipe challenge for two weeks and Noreen is doing a challenge of 2s (since it is the 2nd challenge).  Here is my offering:

Wishing Well Creations | A Noise With Dirt On It, Dozer (staples)
All at Pixels & Co.
This is for the 2s Challenge. There are 2 of each of these: papers, photos, word art strips, words in the title, tapes, staples, stars, sets of staples and lines of journaling.

For some reason in Chrome, when I copy and paste the credits, it appears on white strips.  I don't like it but short of retyping it I don't know how to change it.  I guess its just a quirk of Chrome and blogspot.  Hmm, I might have just fixed it?
Well not quite, now it is lighter text.  Oh, well....

Tent Camping

I put together a layout for Leah using a new collaborative kit she made with Just Jaimee.  It has a strong camping theme so I used some photos of Ewan's new tent.  I wanted to use the photos of him and Vivi when they slept in the tent but those photos didn't turn out.

July Speed Scrap

I tried like crazy to beat the time limit this time but I took 75 minutes longer than allowed to finish.  It really doesn't matter since I don't qualify for the gift certificate.  I goofed up on part of it.

Bestie and Travel Adventures

Here's a layout for a release on Sunday.  I wanted to use a particular border element but it just wouldn't work with this template.  I think the layout turned out well nonetheless.

A Bucket Full of Memories

I really wanted to use this artsy background paper and the other kit had a garden theme, so I figured I would scrap about some flowers from the backyard.  This plant was one of my parent gifts from years ago.  The blossoms are fabulous.

4th of July

I was going to use this LO as a "sisters" page, but the colors were turning out to be more patriotic than I wanted.  I had one good photo of fireworks from the 4th, so I decided to let the LO go that way.

A layout with Ewan AND Vivian

I love using a photo of both the grandkids.  I only regret that the template used such small photo spots.

Another about Ewan -- A favorite photo

I have loved this photo for the longest time and I always wanted to scrap it as a big photo.  I think the new kit by Mommyish works well for it.
