SOSN Mistake...

I accidentally downloaded some CD Muckosky kits which were available but were going to be featured after my Polly spot was over.  I still made a layout and posted them today.  I LOVE CD's stuff.

Polly Picks - Sarah at TLP

This week's Polly Pick is from Sarah.  I had many of her picks so it was really fun.  I did download a couple of her picks for fonts.  I had scrapped this theme before  but this time is in a different way.  It was really fun.

Seattle Night Driving

I've had my eye on this alpha for the longest time.  It was fun to use it on this layout.  It's a little hard to read, but the license plate alpha is PERFECT for this theme.

Art Journaling VS Visual Journaling

There was a thread in TLP forum about art journaling.  Is it the same as visual journaling or creative journaling.  It got me to thinking that lately my AJ pages have been only about the LOOK of the page and didn't express much of what's inside.  The first AJ pages I made did do that.  So I put together a more personal one about something I did outside in the yard.  Not earth shaking, but still personal and it shows how I feel.

I Killed It!
In keeping with a discussion in the thread about whether it is art journaling or creative journaling I decided to make this page a bit more personal.

Last Pocket Scrapping Art Journal Challenge for March

I managed to do all four challenges in one day.  This one required scrapping about a trip or trips I've taken.  I, of course, chose New York since it's about the only place I've traveled to over the last 13 years.  I chose to have items sticking out of pockets.

Pocket Scrapping AJ - Mar. 11

This challenge was to use paint.  I used LOTS of it.  I was able to also use a pocket page kit that was on my wish list for a long while.  I used as much M3 stuff as I could.

TLP Pocket Scrapping Art Journal Challenge - March 25

This challenge required a layout about something we have fun doing.  I scrapped about playing house with Vivian.  I snapped these selfies in the bottom pockets as I was drinking the pretend tea.  I got this kit a week or so ago because I won a $10 gift certificate from Forever Joy.  It's a Dr. Suess inspired kit, but it works just fine here.

I put the ribbon shadow on it's own layer.  I perfected it after using the smudge tool by making a layer mask and erasing the imperfect parts.  I only used RadLab on Vivi's photo.  I also adjusted the bottom strip in the template from one photo spot into two spots.  I added the stitching between them by duplicating the stitching from the triangle section.

This is for the Pocket Scrapping Art Journal Challenge for March 25th.  This is a great series of challenges.

Pocket Scrapping Art Journal Challenge

I participated all four weeks last month, but I'm WAY behind this month.  I did 6 x 12's last month; this month I'm doing 12 x 12's.  The challenge was to make something span into at least two pockets.  The flower sticker and one work strip do that.

... and fly!

This is for the Pocket Scrapping Art Journal Challenge.  If you haven't tried this challenge yet, I highly recommend it!

New Scrap Stack Monthly kit for $5

Here is the preview.  It will be available for $5 April 1st.

One for fun....,

I saw two layouts that really appealed to me but they were quite different from each other too.  Each had a lot of white space.  I had to really restrain myself from adding more elements to keep the minimalist look.

I used 3 RadLab filters on the photo.  It had an orange color cast on it originally.

My Girl

I'm trying to embrace my minimalist self (really hard for me).  This is a combination scraplift of Celine's (Louso) page "you, you, you" and sucali's page, "Grow".

Here are the layouts I lifted:

Cool, Man

I used part of a collab since not many other CT's were making layouts with This Is March.  It turned out fairly monochromatic.  The photo of Ewan is one of my favs.

New Releases at Scrap Stacks

It's Friday and there are many new releases at Scrap Stacks.  I combined the pink and blue of the Boy and Girl kits into this one layout.  It shows Ewan at the age of 5 and Vivi at her last birthday, 5.

Slow Scrap Layout AND FF at The Lilypad

This was my last froggy Friday at the Lilypad.  I made a layout using a kit from LBW for the Slow Scrap.  The scrap was accompanied by a chat.  I had some difficulty getting into the chat in Google Chrome, so I switched over to Internet Explorer.  It was fun.

This layout shows Brian hard at work on the old deck.  I didn't get into the work photos but I WAS there working, too.

SOSN at TLP - Big Alpha

This big alpha was one I had purchased a while ago, but hadn't used.  It showed up on the list of items for SOSN and I thought this was a good time to use it.  I snapped this picture of Rachel and Brian in Lexie's kitchen during Vivi's birthday party.

SOSN - The Lilypad

I love this mini kit by Just Jaimee and the Kim Jensen kits showed up in the gallery of items that are going to be featured soon, I guess.  These were on my wish list, so I went for them.  They are older kits.

I have wanted to scrap this series of photos for the longest time.  I must have moved the framed photos around the layout for over an hour until I found a layout I liked.  Probably should have just used a template.

Simplifying Life

In an effort to bring more balance into my life and to simplify my favorite past time - digital scrapbooking, I have stepped down from my CT duties at Pixels & Co.  I will always be grateful to that site for giving me my first opportunity to CT.  I learned so much and stretched myself so far because of that store.  I wish them the very best as they refresh their website and store.

I also declined Jennifer Labre's invitation to join her CT.  She has a great store at Pickleberrypop. She designs wonderful kits and I am sure I would have loved using them, but again I need to bring more balance into my life and not take on MORE duties.

I am still a CT at Scrap Stacks.  I have given a commitment of several months, so I will concentrate on that responsibility fully.  I will continue to do the challenges at The Lilypad, as I LOVE the community at that store.  The designers there are so varied and talented I am able to express myself fully with the kits from there.  I am hoping in my heart to get on as a permanent Polly but that is in God's hands.  I am enjoying the guest spot I have for this month.  I have been so busy taking full advantage of it.

I have two new layouts in the works for Scrap Stacks and then I think I'm going to dig in to BSF wholeheartedly so I can finish the study of The Life of Moses victoriously, exercise more and get more yard work done.  That's the plan anyway.

Friday New Releases at Scrap Stacks

Here is another layout for this week's new releases.  I used items from two of my assigned designers.  They are the significant part, however.  I selected the main kit because I liked the colors.  I think the final layout features Ewan with great colors.

New Release Day at Scrap Stacks

Friday is a big day around digiland.  It is also release day at SS.  I needed to do a layout for my last assigned designer and she released a darling kit perfect for a photo I've wanted to scrap since I took it.

The kit is called Sisters, but I used it to tell the memory of Vivi's stuffed friends.

FF @ The Lilypad -- layout #2

This Friday is also the release of the newest Mixed Media Monthly subscription kit.  It is always a treat to see what themes the designers come up with.  This one is much lighter and "Springier" than the others.

I used the word art as my springboard for this layout.

Finishing up the 7 March challenges at TLP

Random Challenge was the last one I needed to complete.  It needed some items that would be numbered.  I hadn't done any layouts about Halloween yet so that's what I choose.  I also used an older kit I had downloaded but hadn't used yet.  It's a fun one about Robots and Aliens by Lynne-Marie.  I added the space elements and colored papers from that kit.

SOSN 3-18 at The Lilypad

Here is layout 1 for the sale happening for only one day at The Lilypad.  It's a 50% off sale but it is only good today, Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

I'm trying a new technique for linking all the products, but it's not going very fast.  I think my old way is faster.  I chose the main kit because of the light pink rose.  I loved the delicateness of the elements and papers.

I added the layouts in bits and whenever I edited the post to add a new layout, I got the annoying white background.  I don't know why or how to get rid of it.  Grrrr...

Here is the layout:

M3 February Challenge #3

Here is the last challenge I've done for February's M3 challenges.  The challenge was to use words to create a Vision Board.  I hadn't done one before.  I have 3 divisions: my faith, my creative self, personal well-being.

M3 Challenge #3

I've been so busy with the monthly challenges and creating layouts for my Guest Polly spot, I'm late doing two of the M3 challenges.  Since I bought the kit, I want to participate as much as possible.  This challenge entailed using a scrapbook template to use as a starting off point for an AJ Paper collage page.  I did layer a bunch of papers on this but most were blended or masked so they don't look like pieces of paper.  After layering on lots of word art strips, I liberally covered the page with paint.

Here's the template I started with:

Here is my AJ page.  You can see the frames are loosely in the same places (without shadows).

New Releases at Scrap Stacks March 13th

I still have not posted a full layout by my assigned designer, Snip & Snails.  I did use some stitches by her but they are not from a new release.  I'm hoping to catch one next week.

For this week I got some papers from Jennifer and another kit by River Rose Designs.  I think I blended the elements and papers together pretty well as the color palettes were very much alike as a whole.

I used RadLab to make the photo b/w and blended it with a color photo for the final.

2nd Layout for FF at TLP

This one features a template and an alpha that is available this week-end for 20% off.  I made masks for the alpha and clicked a paper to it.  I recolored the brushes also.  The template was originally 8.5 x 11, but was easily adjusted to 12 x 12.  I love the colors.

Froggy Friday at TLP

There are a few new kits this week.  I used a small bundle by Sissy Sparrows for this.  I used some tears to divide the girl to show thoughts and images spilling out from inside.  It was very hard.  I used a boatload of layer masks to accomplish it.

Polly Pick Challenge - Becky at TLP

There was several kits that Becky picked that I already had.  I was drawn to the Super Duper Too kit and I thought CD's alpha would go great with it and I had another CD alpha already.  The Super Duper kit did not come with paper, so I got Zero to Hero for the paper.  The Z to H kit had alot of other elements that would help the layout.

I took the cape off a flying character to attach it to Ewan.  I made the shadow on a separate layer. This turned out so cute.  I don't usually go back that many years to scrap, but this photo was perfect.

Layout 3 for SOSN - March 11 @ TLP

SOSN - 3/11 @ The Lilypad --- Layout 1

I seem to have trouble posting multiple layouts with time between the postings so these will be posted individually.  Here is the first layout.  I finished it and went to bed but laying there I felt it was kind of juvenile looking so I got up and added a lot more of Sissy Sparrows' brushes and moved the background paper around and changed up the title.  It looks much more like art journaling now.  I'm much happier with the revised version.

Jennifer Labre Designs at ScrapStacks

This kit uses a lot of purple which I normally don't like, but this kits is dreamy with LOTS of quality elements.  I forgot to use the alpha which is outstanding!

I did quite a bit of altering of the photo with RadLab and blended the color and b/w photo with the color mode.  It is a subtler cross between b/w & color, I think.  Took the photo just before Buddy and I went for a run.

My first layout as a ScrapStacks CT member.

I answered a call to be a CT for the website ScrapStacks.  It was very complicated getting onto the site to post my layout in the stacks.  This website is quite different from other shops.  ScrapStacks does have a shop and CTs make layouts with the new releases, but there isn't a gallery like other shops.  Instead, it is more like a scrapbooking Pinterest.  You have boards instead of galleries.  You can restack things.  You can only upload your own work.

I actually goofed when downloading my assigned kits.  I downloaded a designer that wasn't my assigned designer so I'm kind of behind on my duties.  I was able to complete this layout with the designer/kit of my choice which is the Two Tiny Turtles template.

March Journaling Challenge at TLP

This challenge was to be about something that I was good at or some way that says "You are awesome".  I chose some photos that I've used before that show something I haven't done for a long time -- sewing.  I put a new photo of Lulu in the party dress I made.

The layout is super busy because of the template I used.  Hopefully the photos hold their own.
Each of the kits are ones that were on my wish list.  Being a guest Polly is the greatest!

March Product Challenge at TLP

I am using mostly new releases to complete the challenges this month.  I added some Juliette papers and Valorie Wibben's Stitched Pockets (from my wish list) to other items from the BYOC.

This challenge was to use a template from the shop.  Amy Martin's Helper Grids is a template with 12 boxes of PSD's.  I pulled two of them off into my layout.  I added the PSD from the stitched pockets. This was very challenging.  The photo is a selfie Brian & I took after pulling up the deck boards.  We were happy to be done and tired -- it was hard work.

I used the color photo blended onto a black and white photo (Boring B/W in RadLab).  I'm loving the font Manhattan Darling; so glad I bought it.
