New Sweet Shoppe Designs Challenge and Siggy

I'm dabbling over at Sweet Shoppe Designs because I really like Red Ivy Designs.  I discovered she does a monthly challenge (which is good since I don't care for the store's Bingo Card format).  I made an avatar a few days ago and today I made my Siggy.  I used the newest kit by Red Ivy for it.  I tried to link the siggy to my blog but couldn't figure how to do that at this shop.

Slow Scrap at The Lilypad

Monday was a slow scrap/chat at The Lilypad.  I was able to make a layout during the time limit but unable to catch the chat since I took a Playing with Flowers with a Macro Lens class at Creative Live.  The class was really good and 6 hours long.  During the breaks in the class I put the layout together.

The scrap was focused on using clipping masks.  We had to clip a background paper to a shape, shape a photo to another kind of shape, clip an adjustment layer to an element and clip a patterned paper to a chunky font.

I've used this kit to scrap a photo of Chris before but I thought it would be good again.  Here is my layout:

Personal Scrapbook Challenge to Myself

I am challenging myself to use some of my kits from designers that I only have one kit from (for me they are a one kit wonder).  I may then delete the kit if I feel like it, knowing I did get some use out of it (be it a freebie or a purchased kit).

First one is a series of mini kits from the Digi Scrap Parade.  I have stopped participating in most blog hops but I like many of the mini kits from this one.  So I gave it a go.  There are a lot of items that supposedly coordinate.  I may go through the stash now and eliminate the ones that don't make me happy.

This layout uses a kit that inspired me to join The Daily Digi for more than a year (a digital subscription service). I love the comic book effect/superhero type kits.  This was the first one I ever bought.  I found this template in my stash under the name of the designer and not her designer's label.  It turns out that it is available at The Lilypad.  It was perfect for a comic book type layout.  By doing it in this format I could use the whole series of photos I had of this pillow fight between the grandkids and Uncle Greg.  So much fun!!

This template was from Sahlin Studio for her March template challenge.  I downloaded the template but didn't care for it with any of the kits I have by her.  However, this week's SOSN had a great collab for 50% off that is all about cars and I thought the template would make a great hill for a driving layout.  I actually thought it would work for the challenge but found out I was too late for the March challenge.  No matter, I still like the layout.

Speed Scrap at The Lilypad

This was a speed scrap which started with a one hour chat.  During the chat I started the layout by making a rough template of the directions.  I had picked out a series of photos before the chat even began (this turned out to be really helpful).  I went through the whole chat/instructions without know what kit I would use.  After the chat, there was one hour to complete the page.  I got done in about 40 minutes.  I really like how it turned out which doesn't always happen when time is short.  I was really happy that the directions allowed for three photos.

Challenges, Challenges, Challenges at Digital Scrapbooking Studio

I didn't win any challenges last month at Digital Scrapbooking Studio, but it doesn't discourage me from trying again this month.  So far I've entered a layout in the Inspiration Challenge, Out of the Box, Challenge, Quote Challenge, Wendy P Challenge.  I've been able to use some kits I've gotten from designers there and even added a new designer, Berna's Playground to my collection.

Out of the Box Challenge:  I was just experimenting with extractions when I realized with the two samples and the original I had the requirements for this challenge which was to use three photos.  I love this kit from Wendy (though, I'm not sure it's in the DSS shop).

I found another challenge to do at Digital Scrapbooking Studio, the Color Challenge with Diane.  She had a freebie mini kit with the challenge colors which wasn't my style (plus I really wanted to use my new kit by Berna Datema, Bye Bye Blimp.  I had to do some extensive color replacement to switch the element and paper to the challenge palette but I think it still looks fabulous.  Since I went to church this morning, I made it a Bible Art Journaling page.
